(RightWing.org) – After the 2020 presidential election, a wild period in American history unfolded — nearly three years later, it keeps getting crazier. Former President Donald Trump is the focus of this chaos, and various prosecutors in federal and state jurisdictions have indicted dozens of people. They continue to nibble around the edges of the group who were within his inner circle for what is surely a prelude to a major attack on the man himself as the country gets closer to the 2024 election.
This is especially true in Georgia, where Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis has accepted the guilty pleas of several lawyers in exchange for lenient sentencing and their testimony against each other. Now the focus is shifting to Mark Meadows and his grand jury appearance.
Unleashing the Hounds
Mark Meadows once served as the Congressman for the 11th District of North Carolina, until he accepted the post to become what would be the final Chief of Staff for Trump. According to a story broke by ABC News, he was granted immunity from prosecution to testify before a federal grand jury in the investigation being done by Special Counsel John Smith.
Smith’s office is investigating the ex-president’s claims of election interference and any potential culpability he may have had in what the political Left insists on calling an “insurrection,” as well as the issue of the alleged classified documents found in his residence at Mara-a-Lago in Florida. It is unclear whether Meadows’ testimony is about one of them individually, or both.
Much of this was prompted by former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and her formation of the United States House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol. Many, like Representative Andy Biggs (R-AZ), saw this as a thinly veiled and highly partisan inquisition aimed at Trump.
In an opinion piece that Biggs wrote that was published by The Hill — which used the term “witch hunt” in the title — he points out that “this is the same crew that spent years perpetuating a false narrative” about Trump’s supposed collusion with the Russians in 2016, and Democrat’s rush for their second impeachment where they circumvented the established procedures.
He also brought up a fact that flew beneath most people’s radar, which is that the FBI could not “find evidence of a widespread, coordinated effort to overturn the presidential election.”
Much of the Leftist media is crowing about the gigantic blow that Meadows’ testimony will be to Trump’s defense in his various trials. However, a former prosecutor for the Manhattan District Attorney Jordan Rubin cautioned news outlets on his MSNBC blog. He writes that no one has knowledge of what the former Chief of Staff told the grand jury, nor the extent of what is covered by the grant of immunity.
