Four-Year-Old American Freed by Hamas

(RightWing.org) – An American child has been freed by the terrorist group Hamas — after spending her fourth birthday as a hostage. Abigail Mor Edan was kidnapped by Hamas during the October 7 atrocities in Israel after terrorists murdered her parents. Now she’s free, but almost 200 other hostages are still being held.

Last week Israel, under heavy pressure from the Biden administration, agreed to a four-day ceasefire in its war against Hamas in exchange for the release of 50 of the 242 hostages Hamas abducted on October 7. The ceasefire began at 7:00 a.m. local time on November 24; Israel agreed to allow aid into Gaza and release 150 Palestinian terrorist prisoners, and also said it would extend the ceasefire for a day for each additional ten hostages released.

Hamas started to return its hostages on November 24, as agreed; Abigail was released on November 26, as part of a third group of 17 people. She’s now back with her family — or what’s left of it — because they’ve been through a horrific ordeal.

When Hamas gunmen burst into their home at the Kfar Aza kibbutz on October 7, Abigail was in her father’s arms. That didn’t stop the Islamist fanatics from gunning him down, along with her mother. Abigail was trapped under his body but managed to crawl out, covered in blood. She then fled to a neighbor’s house and joined that family in their rocket bunker, where Hamas seized them and took them to Gaza. Her older brothers survived but saw their parents murdered.

As of November 28, the ceasefire is still holding, but it’s fragile. On November 27 Hamas agreed to release 20 more hostages in exchange for a two-day extension, but Israel says the terrorist group has already carried out attacks on its troops. Meanwhile, upwards of 170 hostages are still in terrorist hands — and Hamas has allegedly passed some of them on to other groups. It’s great news that Abigail is out of the hands of her kidnappers, but hundreds more families are still waiting.
