(RightWing.org) – Being a member of the Thin Blue Line has always carried a certain amount of risk to life and limb because police officers are regularly the first to arrive at a 911 call, many times without full knowledge of what they will be facing. However, the progressive policies being enacted in politically deep Blue areas such as New York, the city and the state, have emboldened the criminal element to target law enforcement at record levels. This has prompted one national lawmaker to make a prominent open-ended invitation to the men and women of the NYPD.
C’mon Down!
Congresswoman Beth Van Duyne (R-TX) placed a full-page ad in the New York Post urging officers in the city to bring their families to Texas and “Escape from New York.” Her use of that phrase could be seen as a reference to a 1981 post-apocalyptic movie of that title starring Kurt Russell where Manhattan Island had been turned into a large penal colony.
The opening paragraph of the advertisement mentions the recent death of NYPD Officer Jonathan Diller who was gunned down during a traffic stop in Queens on March 30, the day before Easter Sunday. Van Duyne held nothing back in her condemnation of the liberal politicians and their leftist agenda including the soft-on-crime blight that runs rampant in the Empire State and the Big Apple.
Van Duyne specifically named Governor Kathy Hochul, Attorney General (AG) Leticia James, and NYC District Attorney (DA) Alvin Bragg as a part of the group that she claims hypocritically showers praise upon police officers while in reality they treat them as nothing more than “punching bag[s] for these anarchists to use to satisfy their extremist base.” The ad finishes by listing contact information for organizations including the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office, the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport Police, and the Fort Worth Police Department, amongst others in North Texas.
Other phrases that the Texan used in her admittedly harsh critique include:
- Pro-criminal politicians
- Purposefully anti-law and order
- Defund the police politicians
By contrast, Van Duyne painted the Lone Star State as a place where the residents respect and appreciate law enforcement officers and then told her target audience, “y’all have a home waiting for you here in Texas.”
Embattled New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who is facing a lawsuit for the alleged sexual assault of a subordinate in 1993 under the provisions of the Adult Survivors Act, went on the offensive against the Texas Congresswoman. He chose the specific metric of murder statistics to claim his city was safer than Dallas, however, some pundits noted that the city of Irving was rated one of the safest small cities in America by the FBI in 2022.
Also of note, border towns like El Paso and Laredo, overrun by illegal aliens because of the open border policies of President Joe Biden, were also on the FBI list of safer cities. These issues will likely be among the opening salvo of what promises to be a contentious 2024 election cycle with these topics being at the top of the list for discussion.
