Terror Suspects Continue to Cross the US Border

(RightWing.org) – President Joe Biden and his Democratic accomplices in Congress continue facing harsh criticism in the face of the administration’s failed policies regarding border security. During a November 1 lunch meeting, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) told Republican senators he planned to quickly wrap up the House’s $14.5 billion support package for Israel and then turn his sites on aid to Ukraine However, he plans to tether it to additional funding for border security.

A recent report indicated that the focus on securing the nation’s borders couldn’t come at a better time.

Shocking Report Shows Terror Suspects Continuing to Cross the US Border

On October 31, RealClear political and investigative staff writer James Varney published an in-depth report detailing rising concerns about terror suspects reaching the United States and other “known unknowns” stemming from the Biden administration’s “border crisis.”

Varney began his report with the stunning declaration that hundreds of individuals listed on the FBI’s terrorism watchlist “have almost certainly” crossed into the US amid the millions of illegal migrants flooding across the nation’s southern border since Biden assumed office in 2021.

Rodney Scott, the former head of the US Border Patrol, told Varney that anyone not “significantly concerned” about this known unknown would have to be “extremely naïve.” He also warned that regardless of Biden administration claims, the president’s series of executive orders issued in January 2021 relaxing border security “have been interpreted” globally as an indication that America’s “border is open.”

Varney reported that Border Patrol and Immigration and Customs Enforcement encountered “a record-shattering 6.5 million-plus” immigrants attempting to gain entry into the US. He also noted that the pace of arrivals is increasing, as confirmed by September’s showing of a record 269,735 encounters.

Turning his attention to the potential importation of terrorism inside the US due to lax security measures, Varney warned that border agents had noted an “alarming increase” in the number of individuals attempting to cross the border who are listed on the terrorist watchlist, formally known as the Terrorist Screening Data Set (TSDS).

Official Border Encounter Statistics Tell the Tale

The US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) service’s website provides insight into the problem and confirms Varney’s concerns. The CBP’s Office of Field Operations (OFO) recorded encounters with 564 persons with records listed on the TSDS at land border ports of entry during the fiscal year (FY) 2023, which ended in October. Putting that figure in perspective, federal officials only encountered 196 in FY 2020, the last year of former President Donald Trump’s first term.

Likewise, the OFO recorded 172 encounters with people on the TSDS list attempting to enter the country between ports of entry. Only three were listed in 2020.
