House Rep Breaks Silence on Classified Lab Leak Docs

(RightWing.org) – In 2020, the world was stunned by the emergence of a new pandemic. The public health crisis claimed several million lives globally, and many pointed the finger at China for the disaster. Of course, the Asian nation denied any culpability despite all signs pointing in that direction. Now, a US lawmaker says that classified US documents reveal that China really was to blame and that the information should be made public.

Committee Discovers Documents Detailing China Lab Leak

According to a Fox News exclusive, the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic had access to State Department records detailing the events of the outbreak. The details contained within, members said, “credibly suggest” that the public health crisis began following a “lab-related accident in Wuhan, China,” which the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) “attempted to cover up.”

The committee chair, Rep. Brad Wenstrup (R-OH), believes the information should be made public. He sent a letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken noting that the members recently received classified documents from the Department of State and insisted that “the American people deserve to see the information that is hidden under these redactions.”

What’s in the Documents?

According to the correspondence addressed to Blinken, Wenstrup says that within the documents is “highly pertinent information that credibly suggests” the pandemic started because of a lab leak in Wuhan. He also noted that there were more insinuations such as the CCP, instead of cooperating, decided to obstruct the investigation, and that there exists a relationship between the Wuhan Institute of Virology, where the US funded gain-of-function research, and the Chinese People’s Liberation Army.

As such, Wenstrup is asking that the State Department “immediately take steps to declassify this information.” Such a move, he says would give Americans a clear picture of the evidence the US government has that the CCP was involved.

The idea that the pandemic began in China is nothing new. In fact, that was the major speculation from the beginning, particularly when satellite images showed an uptick of people visiting hospitals in the Asian nation months before it even hit the shores of the United States. When the country began hoarding protective equipment, suspicions grew.

Then, in 2023, FBI Director Christopher Wray also came right out and said that the pandemic’s source was likely due to a lab leak in Wuhan. He accused the Chinese government of “doing its best to try to thwart and obfuscate” the investigation into the cause.

It’s not clear whether the State Department now plans to make the information public.
