Ewen MacIntosh Dead at 50

(RightWing.org) – The entertainment world recently suffered another premature loss. Recently, news quickly spread across media outlets and the internet that British comedian, and television and stage actor Ewen MacIntosh had died. He was only 50 years old.

On February 21, Ewen’s representatives at JustRight Management posted a brief statement on the company’s X/Twitter account about the actor’s death. “With great sadness,” the company announced, “the peaceful passing of [the] beloved comedy genius.” The notice advised that the family wanted to thank everyone for their support, particularly the staff at Willow Green Residential Care Home, an inpatient nursing facility in Darlington, England.

JustRight Management’s announcement also advised that the family would host a “private cremation” ceremony for MacIntosh’s relatives and close friends. They promised to hold a “celebratory memorial” at an unspecified date “later this year.”

The Guardian provided details from a statement provided by JustRight Management representative Chelle Just. She said MacIntosh was a great actor and an “even better human being.” She praised his ability to make people laugh and his “kind heart.” Just also confirmed that the actor died “peacefully” from “undisclosed causes” after suffering from “ill health” for the last two years.

On February 6, MacIntosh posted a statement on his X/Twitter account telling his followers that he was going through some “bad times” and telling them to “[stay] strong out there.” He also posted a photograph showing him lying in a hospital bed with an ECG sticker and IV line on his shoulder.

MacIntosh is best known for his role as Keith Bishop in the British mockumentary “The Office.” Created, scripted, and directed by fellow comedian and actor Ricky Gervais, the program ran for two years on BBC Two and followed the exploits of office workers at the fictional Wernham Hogg paper company’s Slough branch.

Gervais posted a statement about the “sad news” shortly after JustRight posted its announcement. He praised MacIntosh as a “very funny and very lovely” man. Gervais also referred to “Big Keith” as “an absolute original” and told him to rest in peace.
