Happy New Year 2020! It’s time to turn our backs on the past and look forward to another exciting year in America. Many people will set and work towards their personal new year resolutions while looking forward to markedly improving the lives of themselves and their loved ones. There may even be a few specific events that each American is looking forward to in 2020.
So, if you need some help getting excited for what’s to come in 2020, keep reading!
Super Bowl — February 2
While the Super Bowl happens every year, that doesn’t make it any less exciting. This year the 54th championship game (LIV) is being played at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens. Shakira and Jennifer Lopez promise to put on a great halftime show and you can be sure there are some great commercials planned — so be sure to tune in and watch!
New Screens Will be Ultra-Thin OLEDs
While there’s no set date on this event, vast improvements in touchscreen technology continue to occur. In particular, this year it’s very likely for us to see the whole industry move their new stock towards super-thin OLED screens, and many new devices will have touchscreen capability. In practice, this could mean that everyday surfaces, like walls, mirrors and windows, could become touchscreen devices that integrate with currently existing technology.
The world truly is becoming more and more futuristic by the day.
NASA to Launch Mars 2020 Mission — July 17
Another step in our exploration of space will take place this summer. NASA is set to launch its Mars 2020 mission with the goal of studying the habitability of Mars for future expeditions. While we’re still quite a way off from fully colonizing Mars, this is one of the first steps we must take to achieve that vision.
Tokyo Olympics — July 24 through August 9
After you’ve witnessed the Mars launch, check in with the next set of Olympic challenges being held in Tokyo. This year we’ll see the introduction of a few new competitions. Some of these new events include 3×3 basketball, freestyle BMX and Madison cycling. More mixed events are yet to be announced as well.
Additionally, if you happen to have a high-end TV, then you’re in luck! Sony, Panasonic and NHK (Japan’s national broadcasting network) are all partnering up to bring you the Olympics in 8k resolution.
US Presidential Election — November 3
While many of us are looking forward to the next set of presidential elections, Democrats may not be so enthusiastic over the course of 2020. Trump’s booming economy is sure to solidify his chances for re-election, even in spite of impeachment proceedings in the Senate. Remember, if you haven’t already registered to vote, do so soon!
That’s it for our list of major events happening in 2020. What are you looking forward to in the new year?
