US Government Reportedly Worried About China's Newest Threats Over Taiwan

U.S. Government Concerned About This NEW THREAT Out Of China

(RightWing.org) – Undeterred by the western response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, China has turned up its aggression in the Taiwan Strait another notch. The communists have always objected to US warships in the area, but recently they’re complaining more loudly and more often. Now, US leaders are starting to get alarmed.

On June 11, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin told the International Institute for Strategic Studies that China is trying to change the status quo in the Taiwan Strait through “a steady increase in provocative and destabilizing military activity near Taiwan.” Austin highlighted increasingly frequent intrusions by Chinese warplanes, with hundreds of them flying into Taiwan’s air defense zone in the last few months.

Austin’s comments sparked an immediate and fierce response from China. Communist Defense Minister Wei Fenghe ranted that “If anyone dares to secede Taiwan from China, we will not hesitate to fight” — even though Taiwan has never been part of the People’s Republic of China.

The Chinese leadership isn’t stupid; they’ve seen how the world reacted to Vladimir Putin’s attack on Ukraine. They don’t seem to see that as a deterrent, though, and US officials say China regularly parrots demands for the US to keep its navy out of the Taiwan Strait at meetings.

Does China really think it can get away with an invasion and is the Biden administration willing to defy them if they try?
