(RightWing.org) – On Wednesday, October 14, the New York Post released a bombshell report that alleged Hunter Biden and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden may have used their positions for financial gain and were dishonest about it. Twitter almost immediately began blocking users from sharing the story on its platform. That generated accusations of censorship and election interference to protect Joe Biden.
Twitter initially said the article violated its terms regarding the sharing of hacked information. However, critics have pointed out that Twitter isn’t consistent when it comes to liberal media. For example, the New York Times was not censored for its articles about President Trump’s tax records, which were released illegally. The Russian collusion hoax was rampant on the platform during the Mueller investigation.
Over the last 24 hours, we’ve received significant feedback (from critical to supportive) about how we enforced our Hacked Materials Policy yesterday. After reflecting on this feedback, we have decided to make changes to the policy and how we enforce it.

On Friday, Twitter announced it was changing its policy. The company says it will no longer remove hacked content unless it’s shared directly by hackers. That may be too little too late. On Friday, October 23, the Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing to bring in Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg to answer questions about their actions.
Questions are being asked, once again, about whether social media companies are acting as publishers instead of distributors of information. That could impact their legal protections long-term.
