Tucker Carlson Warned a Price Is Paid for Truth, Then He Was Fired

(RightWing.org) – There’s an old adage about how making assumptions can be a bad idea. That said, when one is the owner of a cable news network that dominates the marketplace and has an on-air personality who is regularly pulling in more than 2,000,000 viewers and is hands down the most watched talking head on American television screens, it would not be unreasonable to speculate that the big boss would not want to rock the boat. However, Rupert Murdoch, owner of the Fox News Channel, suddenly announced he and his company were parting ways with Tucker Carlson on April 24.

Abrupt Departure

On the Friday preceding his dismissal, Carlson signed off from the show, telling his viewers something along the lines of “see you Monday!” He then went on to deliver the keynote speech at the Heritage Foundation’s 50th-anniversary gala, where he uttered what were perhaps some prophetic words in hindsight.

Carlson told his audience that many people “really have paid a heavy price for telling the truth,” and went on to say he had been told, “you’re so brave” for doing what you do for a living. But he claims that is simply what he gets paid for and claimed that anyone who doesn’t use a platform like he had to do exactly that, then they are “really an idiot.”

There has been no comment from Murdoch, Fox News executives, or Carlson himself giving any reason for the split, but that has not stopped people from speculating, or writing about something they may have heard from an infamous unnamed source. According to Vanity Fair, they got the inside scoop from one of those shadowy figures who was allegedly “briefed on Murdoch’s decision-making.”

According to their article, it was Carlson’s call to say a prayer or two for the country instead of engaging the Liberals in what he says have turned into “totally fraudulent debates” that led Murdoch to finally drop the ax on him. Gabriel Sherman, who wrote the piece, said that he believes Murdoch may have been “unnerved by Carlson’s messianism” because the Fox Corp. chairman’s engagement to Ann Lesley Smith was purportedly called off because the two of them had formed a friendship based on their Christian faith.

Of course, that is hardly the only theory on why the single most popular newscaster on cable was taken from his seat just as the 2024 presidential primary season gets into full swing. Former Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson who stepped forward with a sexual harassment complaint against the then-CEO of the company in 2016, took to her Twitter feed to claim that it is a similar lawsuit filed by Abby Grossberg that “really brought Tucker Carlson down.”

And lastly, there is the timing, which comes just after the news site settled a lawsuit brought by Dominion Voting Systems. Several Fox on-air personalities publicly questioned the integrity of their electronic balloting stations in the aftermath of the 2020 presidential election.
