(RightWing.org) – Ex-Fox News host Tucker Carlson isn’t former President Donald Trump’s biggest fan. He’s been critical of Trump in public, and much more so in private. Nevertheless, he’s standing up for him over the latest attacks from Biden’s weaponized Justice Department.

Carlson’s relationship with Trump has always been an uneasy one. In 2016, he urged Republicans to vote for him, but after Trump became president, he also criticized many of his policies and decisions. Then, in March, it emerged that in private emails to Fox executives, Carlson had blasted the former chief executive, saying, “I hate him passionately” and “There isn’t really an upside to Trump.”
On the other hand, Carlson has enough integrity to back Trump if he thinks he’s right. On June 13, Carlson released the latest episode of his new show, “Tucker on Twitter,” in the wake of Trump’s arraignment on 37 federal charges. He might have taken the chance to put the boot into the man he hates so much — but he didn’t.
Instead, Carlson pointed out that Trump is the only 2024 presidential candidate so far who’s opposed to the “forever wars” our government keeps dragging us into. He said that makes him a threat to establishment politicians, telling his viewers the former president is “the one guy with an actual shot at becoming president who dissents from Washington’s longstanding pointless war agenda.” Carlson believes that’s the reason other politicians want Trump out of the race, to end the risk of him being elected again and interfering with business as usual.
In the hard-hitting episode, Carlson showed a video of Trump confronting Jeb Bush about his family’s role in the 2003 Iraq war; he also blasted the other GOP presidential hopefuls for their support for Ukraine. He urged Americans to drive 500 miles and look at the state of the country, promising “broken roads and, most sadly, broken people.” Then he pointed out that our government spends trillions of dollars a year and asked where did all of that money go? With Trump back in the White House, Carlson thinks, at least, it wouldn’t be going on endless wars.
