Trump Advisor Says He Should Testify Because He Has “Nothing to Hide”
(RightWing.org) – With the midterm elections lurking around the corner and Republicans poised to reassume control of the House, the select committee investigating the so-called Capitol Hill riot is racing to maximize publicity and put out a report by the end of the year. Amid the usual mainstream media fanfare, Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) recently spearheaded the decision to subpoena former President Donald Trump. However, a senior advisor recently turned the tables on the panel.
Former Trump attorney and current senior advisor Alina Habba recently sat down for an interview with Newsmax host Eric Bolling. Asked about the subpoena, Habba said she “would recommend” the former president cooperate with the committee “because he has nothing to hide.”
Habba also said Trump “has no issue being deposed” by the select committee and “answering questions” about what happened at the US Capitol Building on January 6, 2021, despite the mainstream media’s efforts to portray the former president as having concerns over the request for documents and testimony.
Trump has several options regarding the select committee’s subpoena. For instance, he can follow in the footsteps of some of his supporters, like Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC). He recently received a favorable ruling from Associate Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, temporarily blocking his testimony in an investigation into alleged election-related improprieties in Georgia.
Inversely, the former president has been outspoken about his interest in sitting down for a live hearing to show the world he has nothing to fear from continued Democratic-led efforts to undermine his legacy and ongoing political might.
