
Attempts to end the long-running civil war in Afghanistan have failed again after President Trump was forced to call off peace talks at Camp David on Saturday. The talks, which had been kept secret, were to involve the leaders of all the major Taliban factions as well as the Afghan president.
However, in an apparent attempt to get more leverage for the talks by showing their capability, the Taliban admitted to a terror attack in Kabul that killed an American soldier and 11 others. On hearing about this, Trump immediately canceled the talks. He offered this explanation on Twitter.
