Once again, Hollywood and the NBC television network have crossed the line with another skit about the president. The NBC show, Saturday Night Live, performed a skit that mocked President Trump and his decision to declare a national emergency. The President did not take kindly to this recent disrespect.
- Trump has tweeted on several occasions about the show in the past for belittling him and the Republican party. His latest Tweet is calling for something to be done against the show and the network. The President Tweeted, “Nothing funny about tired Saturday Night Live on Fake News NBC! Question is, how do the Networks get away with these total Republican hit jobs without retribution? Likewise with many other shows? Very unfair and should be looked into. This is the real collusion!”
- The skit that mocked the president was played by actor, Alec Baldwin. Baldwin portrays him as lying about why he needed to declare a national emergency for the wall to be built on the border between Mexico and the United States.
- President Trump has made his disdain for this particular NBC show and the network, very clear since they first starting attacking him during his run for office. Trump has compared this show to Democratic commercials and one-sided party coverage. NBC has yet to comment on the president’s latest Tweet.
- Entertainment can be funny but when that comedy is always mean spirited, especially towards the president of the country, eventually something needs to be done. Trump makes a valid point that some type of retribution is in order, as this has been a one-sided show for quite some time.
