(RightWing.org) – Several top administration officials have left or announced their imminent departure in the wake of President Joe Biden’s failure to adequately address the mounting crisis at the nation’s southern border. In an unexpected but welcome move, one of them is now speaking out about the situation.
On September 11, Rodney Scott, the recently retired head of the US Customs and Border Protection agency, sent a letter to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY). In it, he accuses Biden administration officials of deliberately eroding border security and misleading Congress about the severity of the situation.
Scott also addressed the letter to Senators Gary Peters (D-MI), head of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, and Rob Portman (R-OH), the committee’s ranking member.

As Scott explained, inexperienced Biden appointees ignored or blocked “common-sense border security recommendations” from career border security officials. The retired expert says political appointees within the Department of Homeland Security remained “laser-focused” on speeding up the “flow of migrants into the US” instead. He also feels they downplayed the risk that their haste would open the border to terrorists, drug traffickers, and other undesirables.
Scott concluded his letter by asking Senators to exercise their oversight responsibilities and hold hearings on his allegations. He also offered to appear and testify under oath.
With any luck, public hearings will force the mainstream media to start paying attention to the border crisis and cover concerns of career professionals like Scott.
