(RightWing.org) – President Biden might be happy to leave our borders open, but the governor of Texas has different ideas. The Lone Star State is deploying state police and National Guardsmen along the border to deal with the growing crisis there.
On Saturday, March 6, Governor Greg Abbott (R) announced Operation Lone Star as a response to the surge in human trafficking and drug smuggling that’s hit our southern border this year. He affirmed his state’s support for legal immigration, but warned Texas “will not be an accomplice to the open border policies.”

The crisis is bad enough that even moderate Democrats are balking. Last week Representative Henry Cuellar (D-TX) reported that the Border Patrol had detained 10,000 illegals in the Rio Grande sector in just seven days, and said, “Inaction is not an option.” Operation Lone Star was launched following a Saturday meeting between Abbott and Colonel Steve McCraw of the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) to discuss the crisis. It will involve National Guard, DPS and Border Patrol personnel, operating as a single integrated command. Biden might be trying to open the borders, but Texas isn’t willing to trust its citizens’ safety to the goodwill of illegals.
