Ted Cruz Wants To Defund New IRS Agents

Ted Cruz Wages WAR on IRS

(RightWing.org) – After months of wrangling, Senate Democrats finally passed their reconciliation package (HR5376) on August 8. The liberal lawmakers named the measure the Inflation Reduction Act, but in reality, it injected billions of dollars into the IRS’ budget to hire 87,000 new agents. Some see this as part of an effort to weaponize the service to go after the country’s upper middle class. However, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) wants to strip that funding and the agency’s ability to terrorize working-class Americans.

On September 12, Cruz posted a tweet containing a short clip of him during a recent Fox News interview discussing the importance of Republicans retaking control of the Senate in the upcoming midterm elections.

The Texas firebrand also challenged “every single Republican” to push back on President Joe Biden’s effort to create an “army” of 87,000 new IRS agents to “harass Americans” using a portion of the roughly $80 billion allocated by Democrats to fund enforcement efforts. Instead, he wants to support efforts to stem the flood of illegal migrants streaming across the nation’s southern border.

Biden administration officials have pushed back on the idea that the IRS will use the new funds to “increase audit scrutiny” on small businesses or households taking in less than $400,000 per year. However, as we reported on September 1, the Congressional Budget Office confirmed new audits “will impact” individuals in that earning bracket.

Do you think Ted Cruz can put a stop to the IRS agenda?
