Ted Cruz Says Supreme Court Justices Face New Threats

(RightWing.org) – The United States Constitution set up three branches of government, and created a system of checks and balances, giving the Supreme Court (SCOTUS) and “such inferior courts as the Congress may from time to time ordain and establish” the authority to determine whether or not any law ran afoul of the founding document. After the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022, the Democrats, especially the Progressive alt-Left wing, have thrown a continual temper tantrum that would be mildly amusing in a toddler, but threatens the fundamental basics of the American Constitutional Republic when it comes from one of the two major political parties. Now, Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) is weighing in on the subject.

Dueling Op-Eds

Senator Ted Cruz wrote an opinion piece for National Review in which he made a direct response to the one printed in the Washington Post by a political activist posing as a journalist, Perry Bacon, Jr. Like many of his Leftist cohorts, Bacon apparently believes the only truly correct way to run the United States is by applying the Socialist/Communist Agenda.

The Left began to unravel when a still unidentified person leaked a draft copy of Justice Samuel Alito’s majority opinion of Dobbs. Protests took place not only on the streets of Washington DC, but Radical Leftists also descended upon the homes of the Conservative justices, including a man who was arrested with weapons who, as Cruz put it, “traveled from California to Maryland to murder Justice [Brett] Kavanaugh, in his home.”

The senator took President Joe Biden and the Department of Justice to task for failing to uphold federal laws that prohibit tampering with and/or threatening judges in the United States. What was it that set Liberals off? SCOTUS decided to reverse the error that the previous Court made with Roe, which he described as “one of the most notorious examples” of a time when the judiciary branch “used to invent rights from whole cloth.” In short, the current panel of justices DID NOT outlaw abortions, they simply decided to return it to the individual states to decide because there is no federal right to the procedure.

In his WaPo op-ed, Bacon seemed to advocate for “ambitious” ideas to change the court system, including:

  • Term limits for SCOTUS justices (obviously, Bacon is no legal scholar because that would require a new amendment, not just a law).
  • “Court-packing” to increase “the number of left-meaning justices.”
  • “Limitations on federal judges’ ability to invalidate legislation” (again, refer to the lack of legal scholarship, since that would require changing the Constitution to undo the literal job description).

Bacon recognizes he is unlikely to get laws like those above into action, so he proposes that powerful Democrats use their offices to leverage mass- and social media to call out Conservative judges — by name — to shame them. As Cruz points out, this kind of attitude can easily lead to violence against judges, and overall the Left’s attitude is more like “what you’d expect in a banana republic.”
