(RightWing.org) – Joe Biden continued prematurely building a cabinet on Tuesday, naming Pete Buttigieg, former mayor of South Bend, IN, for the Department of Transportation. This is awkward, because just a few months ago the men were rivals for the Democratic nomination, and Biden was doing everything he could to demolish Buttigieg’s reputation.
In February, Biden’s campaign team ran an attack ad on Facebook and YouTube, criticizing the 38-year-old Buttigieg’s youth and lack of experience, and contrasting it with Biden’s 49 years as a denizen of the swamp. It seems Biden now finds the ad inconvenient, though, because as of December 16, it’s disappeared – YouTube shows it as “removed by the uploader.”

The ad, which you can see in full here, took a series of low swipes at Buttigieg’s record, contrasting his focus on local issues – typical for a mayor – with Biden’s role in the Obama administration. It also tried to smear him as a racist, pointing out that he’d fired black police and fire chiefs.
At the time, Buttigieg dismissed the ad, saying, “South Bend residents… don’t think their lives are a Washington politician’s punchline.” Now, with Biden hoping to have a cabinet with Buttigieg in it, the two are pretending to like each other.
