(RightWing.org) – It’s easier to get an abortion in the US than it’s ever been before, according to a new study. Increasingly, doctors perform abortions via medication instead of surgery, and that trend will make it harder for states to set their own standards.
A study released on February 24 by the Guttmacher Institute revealed in 2020, for the first time, pills carried out more than half of all abortions in the US. The use of abortion pills was already on the increase, but COVID lockdowns and wider use of telemedicine – where patients speak to doctors on a phone or video call and receive a prescription – gave it a massive boost. To help it along, the FDA changed the rules to allow doctors to send abortion pills by mail.

In 2020, 54% of abortions in the US were carried out with pills. It’s likely that more women who want abortions in the future will opt for the speed and convenience of medication. Some states are resisting, and three – Arizona, Arkansas and Texas – have banned abortion pills by mail. The trend is running against them, though. Pro-life campaigners in the US are now on the back foot, as the Biden administration uses federal agencies to ram through the Democrats’ abortion agenda.
