Kamala Harris still has hopes of getting the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination, but the evidence says her campaign is in trouble. From being one of the most highly ranked candidates in early summer, she’s seen her poll numbers collapse through the course of the debates. Now it looks like her team is starting to crack under the pressure.
The New York Times has published a resignation letter from a former Harris staffer who’s fed up with the campaign team. Kelly Mehlenbacher wrote that she had “never seen an organization treat its staff so poorly.” She went on:
“While I still believe that Senator Harris is the strongest candidate to win in the General Election in 2020, I no longer have confidence in our campaign or its leadership. The treatment of our staff over the last two weeks was the final straw in a very difficult decision.”
Damningly, Mellenbacher also said, “With less than 90 days until Iowa we still do not have a real plan to win.” Harris claims that racism and sexism are hurting her campaign, but if what Mellenbacher’s saying is true Harris can find the real culprits a lot closer to home.
In an interesting twist, even though she stated “…I still believe that Senator Harris is the strongest candidate to win in the General Election in 2020…,” she just took a position in the Bloomberg campaign…
