The Senate just passed a funding bill that will keep the government open until November 21st. The measure passed 82-15 which allows the Senate to work out the kinks in appropriations bills that will affect policies in 2020. All indications point to Trump signing the bill when it’s passed along to his desk.
Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) attempted to cut down overall spending by 2% to no avail. Rand has constantly criticized the explosion of our national debt and advocated to curtail government spending across the board. Sadly, many members of Congress (particularly Democrats) still can’t bear the thought of slashing certain areas of government spending they believe to be useful.
A memo was sent to the 48,000 state employees informing them of the government’s new schedule.
