(RightWing.org) – The Biden administration is unveiling its plans to reopen the nation’s schools – but not everyone’s happy with the way he’s doing it. Is Biden prioritizing our children’s future, or the narrow interests of pro-Democrat unions? It’s an interesting question, and it might have a disturbing answer.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) emerged as the strongest critic of Biden’s back-to-school plans on February 16. Delivering a punchy speech at a press conference, DeSantis hammered the new CDC guidelines for reopening schools – guidelines that read like a wishlist of education union demands, and would keep most schools closed for in-person learning for at least the rest of this school year.
Florida schools are open, and every parent has the right to send their kids to school for in-person instruction. Those who insist on keeping the schoolhouse doors closed are ignoring evidence and placing special interests ahead of the best interests of children and families. pic.twitter.com/DG9iUuKMlc

Even the liberal Washington Post has doubts, with a February 12 op ed warning, “The science is also clear that keeping children out of school is doing real harm.” DeSantis went further. Pointing out that Florida kids have been in school since last August without suffering for it — the state ranks 34th out of 50 for juvenile cases — he openly accused the Democrats of putting the interests of unions before our kids. If schools across the country don’t reopen normally soon, a lot of parents are going to start agreeing with him.
