(RightWing.org) – The Trump administration passed five bipartisan relief measures in 2020. With Democrats now in charge of the House and Senate, bipartisan support appears a thing of the past. Republican lawmakers are particularly concerned about Democratic efforts to pad the latest COVID-19 relief package with measures unrelated to the coronavirus.
In one such measure, Democrats initially included a waiver that would have allowed Planned Parenthood to receive taxpayer funds through the Paycheck Protection Program, money intended for use by small businesses. However, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) announced he forced Democrats to remove that measure in a March 5 tweet.
Dems knew this wasn’t about COVID relief/helping small businesses. Shameless attempt to fund their radical agenda & @PPFA on the taxpayers’ backs. I was successful in preventing that from happening by stopping these funds to abortion mills. Read more: https://t.co/K37N8cIYl5

“Democrats knew” the release of funds to Planned Parenthood had nothing to do with “COVID relief,” he wrote. The measure was another “shameless attempt” to fund their “radical” Leftist agenda.
Sen. Paul pushed back by seeking a review of the waiver by the Senate Parliamentarian. Concerned a negative ruling might set a precedent, Democrats backed down and removed the measure before the parliamentarian had an opportunity to rule on the matter.
The whole point of passing a coronavirus relief package should be getting Americans back to work, children back in school, and putting an end to the pandemic. Fortunately, Republicans like Rand Paul are pushing back against Democrats’ efforts to fund “abortion mills.”
