(RightWing.org) – After flubbing up his 2016 prediction, longtime Republican strategist and pollster Frank Luntz decided to step back into deep waters this week, telling Fox News his “profession is done” if they get the 2020 election wrong.
Luntz made that remark during an October 22 interview with Fox News anchor Bret Baier. He also stated the public would lose all confidence in polling organizations if they promote bogus predictions after failing so miserably to forecast Donald Trump’s sound defeat of Hillary Clinton in 2016.
If pollsters get it wrong again, then the polling industry is done.
You can get it wrong once. But if they get it wrong a second time and Trump does win, it’s going to be the end of public polling in politics. https://t.co/0fvDEta1rM

Luntz appears to be doom and gloom regarding the 2020 election. However, he notably got things wrong in 2016, tweeting on election day that Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton would be “the next president of the United States.” However, as we all know, Donald Trump pulled off a massive upset trouncing Clinton in the Electoral College.
Pollsters come and go, and there’s no way to know the impact of a possible silent majority ahead of time. Additionally, President Trump has a busy schedule leading up to the election that could lead to some independent voters swinging his way.
