(RightWing.org) – Iranian leaders threatened Monday to take revenge against the US for the killing of General Qasem Soleimani last year – then immediately had it blow up in their face as the Trump administration boosted American military strength in the Persian Gulf.
In a video released on January 4, Iran’s chief justice and the head of the Revolutionary Guard’s terrorist Quds Force threatened to avenge the death of Soleimani at the hands of the US military in January 2020. Iran has ranted about vengeance before, but this time there were more specific threats, including against President Trump.

The US response to Iran’s fighting talk was swift. The aircraft carrier USS Nimitz, which left the Central Command area just three days ago as part of a de-escalation plan, turned about on a course back to the Middle East. The Nimitz is accompanied by five Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyers and carries three fighter squadrons, an attack squadron and an electronic attack squadron; alone, she has more serviceable combat aircraft than the entire Iranian air force. Iran needs to remember that the US still carries a big stick.
