(RightWing.org) – The debate over the future of abortion in America has reached fever pitch in the wake of two recent Supreme Court decisions — one to allow a Texas law to take effect and another agreeing to hear arguments in a Mississippi case later this year. Taking matters into their own hands, House Democrats, led by Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), recently voted to pass the Women’s Health Protection Act (H.R. 3755). The bill would legalize abortion by statute, therefore bypassing the courts. However, the Catholic Church has a message for Pelosi.
On September 29, San Francisco Archbishop Salvatore J. Cordileone issued a statement inviting “all Catholics” to take part in a “massive and visible campaign of prayer and fasting” for Pelosi in light of her support for H.R. 3755. The campaign calls for Catholics to pray one rosary a week and fast on Fridays in hopes of converting Pelosi’s heart regarding abortion.

"I am therefore inviting all Catholics to join in a massive & visible campaign of prayer & fasting for Speaker Pelosi: ..sign up for the ‘Rose and Rosary for Nancy’..at https://t.co/MzVcPm9o87."— Archbishop Salvatore J. Cordileone (@ArchCordileone) September 29, 2021
“Pelosi speaks fondly of children,” Archbishop Cordileone wrote. “She clearly has a maternal heart.” He exhorted on his congregants and Benedict XVI Institute members to pray Pelosi changes and embraces the “goodness and dignity of human life” in the womb as well as after birth.
Separating church and state is not always a tidy business. But prayer might just soften hearts on the importance of all life.
