Nancy Pelosi’s DRAG QUEEN Claim Just Caught Everyone By Surprise
(RightWing.org) – In 1775, American colonies began the painful process of breaking away from the British empire. For decades, the colonies had experienced a tightening grip from King George III and the British parliament. In the Declaration of Independence, the word “equal” is mentioned twice, yet, the document is loaded with the principles of equality. The question is, what is equality and what is America all about?
Over the last several years, middle America has experienced an assault on its traditional values. Part of the process includes redefining the American experience that would create new rights of privilege for some at the expense of others. On Saturday, June 11, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) appeared on the TV show “RuPaul’s Drag Race” and declared that a drag person’s freedom of expression is what America is all about.
Is a Drag Queen’s Freedom of Expression What America is All About?
There’s no question that the world was a very different place in 1776. Still, when the founders wrote the separation document from England, equality was a broad concept. The equality they spoke of was one of being equal as a British citizen to other British citizens under the Crown.
To understand their objections, a simple reading of the Declaration of Independence makes it clear that the colonies believed the British government treated them differently than other colonies or citizens who lived in Great Britain. In several instances, the king violated his own laws, which the document addresses as the necessary reason to break away from England.
When Congress ratified the Constitution in 1787, it reflected much of the Declaration of Independence. Seven of the 10 amendments in the Bill of Rights (i.e., the first 10 Amendments) tell the government what it cannot do. For example, it can’t infringe on your right to express yourself to the government (i.e., freedom of expression) or speak out against the government (freedom of speech).
What Pelosi advocated for is something very different. While the government cannot tell drag queens how to live their lives, that doesn’t mean it can dictate to citizens with different morals that they must embrace those lifestyles.
Pelosi Neglects Traditional Middle American Values
According to a recent Gallup poll, the LGBTQ community makes up approximately 7.1% of the total US population. Over 86% of Americans say they are straight or heterosexual. So, is Pelosi’s statement that a drag queen’s expression is what America is all about?
What about the traditional expressions of hard work, personal responsibility, a good education, opportunity, and family? In a study by the Brookings Institute of middle America, people across the country expressed concern that the government couldn’t deliver the programs they were promised and was incompetent and out of touch with everyday people.
The Constitution helped create these traditional bedrock values that allowed America to overcome its challenges for over 200 years and helped create the most prosperous nation in the history of the world.
So, is Pelosi right, or is she stuck in a far-left West Coast mindset that runs counter to the principles of the Declaration of Independence, the US Constitution, and everyday Americans?
