Although President Trump had pledged to withdraw more American forces from the Middle East, a recent attack on the US Embassy in Baghdad has changed the playing field.
This chaotic situation was created by Iranian-backed militia groups attempting to storm the embassy. In case you haven’t already seen footage of the situation on the ground, US security forces launched tear gas to ensure the embassy’s safety and that of those residing within. While not graphic, the sheer number of militia forces on the scene is extremely worrying.

According to official sources, the deployment of more troops shouldn’t occur this week.
Mark Esper, Defense Secretary, announced the Pentagon’s plans during a recent press release.
“There are some indications out there that they may be planning additional attacks. That’s nothing new… If that happens, then we will act and, by the way, if we get word of an attack of some kind of indication, we would take pre-emptive action as well to protect American forces, American lives — the game has changed.”
