Older Americans Seeing Delayed Stimulus Checks

Older Americans Seeing Delayed Stimulus Checks

(RightWing.org) – Perhaps no one has suffered the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic as much as the nation’s valued senior citizens. Not only are they an at-risk group for the effects of the coronavirus, but several states like Democratic-led New York completely botched protections that should have been put into place at nursing homes and assisted living centers.

The good news is that the IRS confirmed that they would send out the latest $1,400 relief payment this week to the 30 million recipients of Social Security and other government assistance programs. Individuals should expect to receive that payment on April 7.

What’s concerning is the fact that the IRS managed to send out about 127 million payments totaling $325 billion. Most of them went out within a week of the American Rescue Plan being signed into law on March 11 — 3 weeks ago! Why the delay for seniors?

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and his administration are currently the subjects of a federal investigation for their mishandling of the COVID-19 pandemic. Perhaps it’s time to look at the handling of the relief payments as well.

You can go to the IRS website to confirm when and how your payment was sent.
