(RightWing.org) – A year from now, we’ll be deep into the 2024 presidential election campaign, and President Biden isn’t looking like a formidable opponent. The 80-year-old is visibly deteriorating, and his policies aren’t working. However, a senior Republican is warning that, despite his many flaws, it would be dangerous to underestimate the president.
Republicans may be right about President Biden’s weaknesses in a general election, but they are clearly underestimating the President’s strength in his own party.https://t.co/33PvC5Qoyc

So far, it looks like President Biden has next year’s Democratic nomination sewn up. Although there are two rival candidates, Robert F Kennedy Jr and activist Marianne Williamson, Biden has a solid lead over both of them, and unless he steps down or a major scandal breaks, he looks certain to be the party’s 2024 candidate.
On the face of it, that should be good news for the Republicans because Biden is visibly less agile, and his famous “gaffes” are getting more frequent and more embarrassing. Inflation remains high, security at our southern border has collapsed, and there’s a growing backlash against the administration’s woke policies. Even most Democrats don’t want him to run again.
However, former Georgia congressman and House Speaker Newt Gingrich says Republicans shouldn’t be complacent. In an opinion piece for Fox News, he warned conservatives that while they see Biden’s failures, many on the left look at the same things and see a successful presidency. Gingrich said conservatives underestimate Biden’s chances because of “a deep misunderstanding of the nature of the modern Democrat Party.”
He argues that the Democrats are a coalition of factions united by their own self-interest, and each of those factions is getting something from his administration. Biden’s radical policies might be tearing the nation apart, but they’re also funneling money to radical teachers’ unions, spending on green causes and promoting woke lifestyle agendas. To left-wing groups obsessed with a single issue, Gingrich says, “Biden has been an outstanding president.” Even his disastrous foreign policy blunders seem like a good thing because leftists don’t want the US to be a strong world leader.
Gingrich finished by saying Republicans are right about Biden’s very real weaknesses but are “clearly underestimating the President’s strength in his own party.”
