New Mexico Waves the Red Flag

New Mexico Waves the Red Flag

( – Liberals in New Mexico have taken another step to push their anti-gun agenda on everyone. A new red flag law was just signed into law in New Mexico that allows state district courts to order individuals to temporarily surrender their firearms.

The law allows police officers and sheriffs to petition a court to have a person’s household firearms surrendered within 48 hours if that individual seems to pose any danger to themselves or to others. Failure to comply becomes a misdemeanor with the result that authorities can then remove those weapons as a result.

It gets worse, though. New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham went as far as to say that sheriffs should resign if they refuse to enforce this new law. Sheriffs from predominantly rural areas spoke out against the bill in committee hearings on the grounds that this new bill is a violation of the 2nd and 4th amendments to the Constitution.
