Former ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley has opened up about her shock at finding senior administration officials were trying to obstruct President Trump. In her new book entitled “With All Due Respect,” Haley says former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and White House Chief of Staff John Kelly told her they were resisting the president’s plans but claimed they were “trying to save the country” rather than being insubordinate.
Haley says Tillerson insisted that if he didn’t go against the president, “people would die.” She wasn’t impressed by this line of argument, she stated in an interview on Sunday:
“It should’ve been, ‘Go tell the president what your differences are, and quit if you don’t like what he’s doing,’” Haley said. “But to undermine a president is really a very dangerous thing. And it goes against the Constitution, and it goes against what the American people want. And it was offensive.”
In the same interview, Haley blasted the impeachment circus, pointing out that none of what’s being alleged in the hearings actually happened.
“You’re gonna impeach a president for asking for a favor that didn’t happen and giving money and it wasn’t withheld? … I don’t know what you would impeach him on… The Ukrainians never did the investigation. And the president released the funds. I mean, when you look at those, there’s just nothing impeachable there.”
