(RightWing.org) – House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) appointed a crack team of witch hunters to the January 6 Select Committee earlier this year. To keep things fair, she also added a couple of rabid Trump-haters to the team. Be that as it may, Pelosi & Company may have taken things a bit too far and, as a result, face a lawsuit for their alleged overreach.
On Wednesday, December 8, former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows filed a federal lawsuit against Pelosi and all nine Select Committee members to block their subpoena for testimony and additional documents. Meadows’ attorney, George Terwilliger, said the committee put Meadows in the “untenable position” of defying President Donald Trump’s assertion of executive privilege or submitting to the panel’s subpoena.

Court documents presented by Terwilliger state the Select Committee’s unprecedented actions threaten to violate the long-standing, constitutionally protected principles of executive privilege and qualified immunity. The suit also alleges the panel lacks any valid legislative power or reason to obtain the requested materials and testimony.
So far, committee members like Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS), the panel’s chair, say they will stand their ground and “fight it out in court” if necessary. Likewise, Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Il) accused Meadows of trying to slow down the committee’s efforts.
Time will tell the winner of this legal round, but our money is on Team Trump and Mark Meadows. What about you?
