Media Tries Shaming Unvaccinated

( – During the 2020 presidential campaign, Democratic candidates Joe Biden and Kamala Harris went out of their way to undermine COVID-19 vaccinations. They claimed they would trust science, but not former President Donald Trump.

Democrats intimated they wouldn’t get vaccinated as long as Trump was president. At every turn, they, bureaucrats, and the anti-Trump media used the pandemic for political purposes.

As science evolved, politics didn’t. After the 2020 presidential election, many Conservatives grew convinced that the Left found a way to use the pandemic to their political advantage.

Instead of reassuring Americans and encouraging transparency, Democrats grew hostile towards concerned citizens, questioning virtually everything out of distrust. If Conservatives didn’t trust the government before the election, they fostered even more distrust by their behavior after it.

Now, instead of persuading Americans to get vaccinated, the media and Liberals have turned to shaming the unvaccinated. The unfortunate consequence is the Left is pitting Americans against one another.

The Left Tries to Shame Americans – But Can It?

There is an old saying; you can catch more flies with honey than vinegar. It must be something that Democrats and their mouthpieces in the media never heard. Whether the media or the Democratic Party is calling the shots isn’t relevant: they are essentially inseparable today.

As Democrats try to exert more power over the everyday lives of Americans, they are turning to a destructive form of rhetoric: shaming. It’s a despicable way of making someone feel dishonorable and socially ridiculing them for not vaccinating.

Attacking someone for refusing a vaccine is not only inappropriate, but it’s also counterproductive and can only harden one’s resolve even more. It’s the worst way to persuade someone to do something they don’t want to do.

We’ve seen this before. In 2016 and beyond, the Left called Trump supporters despicable and racists. What’s coming next could be even worse.

So What Are the Dems Talking Heads Saying?

On CNN, host Don Lemon called the unvaccinated “idiotic.” Washington Post columnist Max Boot said it’s time to stop reasoning with “those who will not listen to reason.” The Atlantic noted that unvaccinated individuals were deceived and manipulated and “decided to inflict a preventable and unjustifiable harm upon family, friends, neighbors, community, country, and planet.” The list is piling up.

The president, Democrats, and media make it a point to note that the COVID-19 Delta variant is running rampant through the unvaccinated. That may be true, but it’s not changing anyone’s mind at this point.

According to a new Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll, 35% of unvaccinated individuals say they probably won’t get one, and 45% say they definitely won’t.

What Happened to Personal Choice?

Aren’t Democrats the ones who say about abortion, “it’s my body, my choice?” How many women have chosen to abort their babies since Roe v. Wade? Because it happened one at a time, it must have been okay? How are vaccinations any different? Isn’t it a person’s choice to vaccinate or not?

There could be a lot of reasons why someone chooses to go unvaccinated. It could be a medical decision between a person and a doctor. There could be severe allergies due to the ingredients in a vaccination. What about religious reasons? It could also be that person is willing to accept the risk of not vaccinating.

Wait for it… perhaps a person doesn’t trust the government, or because the vaccine is under emergency use authorization (EUA) and isn’t fully approved as safe yet by the FDA?

Does it really matter why someone chooses to go unvaccinated? They shouldn’t be shamed, ridiculed, or made public outcasts. All the media is doing is creating a toxic atmosphere that is dividing Americans against one another.

What purpose is that serving?

There’s no good reason to beat up the unvaccinated.

No one on either side should feel bullied into making such a personal decision. The fact remains that this is America. It’s a place where liberty ought to be respected and personal responsibility upheld. If you are vaccinated, why does it matter if someone chooses to be unvaccinated if you’re protected? If someone decides to accept the risk of not being vaccinated, it’s their choice. It’s also the choice of someone who’s vaccinated to accept the risk that comes with it.

Let’s hope cooler heads prevail in this ongoing debate.

The Democrats and the media are dividing the nation enough. This issue shouldn’t separate the country further.
