( – President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump took a well-earned day off the campaign trail to greet trick-or-treaters at the White House’s annual Halloween event.

Hosted on Sunday, October 25, the celebration featured a few news twists, like social distancing, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It did have the usual array of spooks and goblins, superheroes, and unicorns, however. A miniature version of the First Couple appeared to have “particularly pleased” the President.

For some reason, mainstream media largely ignored the event, with The Washington Post and US News and World Report being two of the only significant media outlets covering it.

Republicans paved the way for the annual celebration with Dwight D. Eisenhower and First Lady Mamie Eisenhower, hosting the first White House Halloween gala on October 30, 1958.

With the national elections looming, this event provided a welcome opportunity to set politics aside for a day and embrace the warmth of the president and first lady celebrating an American tradition among adoring children. Too bad most of the MSM couldn’t be bothered to cover it.
