Media Is Ignoring Mass Shooting Suspect's Immigration Status

(RightWing.org) – Once again, Americans have been shocked by a brutal mass shooting, and once again, the Democrats are blaming guns for the atrocity. However, there’s something they don’t want to talk about — the shooter’s immigration status. Luckily for them, the mainstream media doesn’t want to talk about it either.

On April 28, Francisco Oropesa was firing his semiautomatic rifle in the yard of his Cleveland, Texas, home when one of his neighbors asked him to stop, pointing out that it was 11:30 p.m. and they were trying to get a baby to sleep. Instead of complying, Oropesa told them he’d do what he wanted in his front yard — then allegedly killed five of the neighbor’s family, including an eight-year-old boy, with shots to the head. The 38-year-old Mexican national then went on the run.

He was arrested on May 2 in the city of Cut and Shoot, around 20 miles from his home, following a tip to the FBI, and has been charged with five counts of murder.

Democrats were quick to point out that the tragedy wouldn’t have happened if Oropesa hadn’t been able to acquire his rifle. This is true, but it’s also true that the tragedy wouldn’t have happened if Oropesa hadn’t been in the country — and he shouldn’t have been; he’s an illegal immigrant who’s already been deported four times.

Oropesa’s previous deportations happened during the Obama administration, and at least one of them was a result of him breaking the law — in 2009, he was arrested for a misdemeanor traffic offense, then deported. But he kept coming back, and the current administration seems to have no interest in keeping people like him out of the US.

Now the mainstream media is keeping quiet about the fact Oropesa was in the country illegally; the Washington Post even openly defended this policy, saying there was “no nonpolitical reason” to mention the fact Oropesa was an illegal immigrant. The fact is, though, that illegal immigrants are unvetted. We don’t know who they are, we don’t know what they’ve done, and our government should be protecting us from them, but it isn’t.
