Joe Biden Struggles Through Interview, Accidentally Implicates Himself

(RightWing.org) – Joe Biden reportedly spent much of the 2020 campaign cycle holed up in his Delaware bunker. Now that he’s in the Oval Office, his handlers will stop at almost nothing to keep him away from the prying eyes of journalists and the permanence of taped interviews. A quick glimpse of his latest chats with reporters removes any doubt as to the reasons why they try so hard to keep Biden tucked away someplace safe.

Biden struggled throughout his August 18 interview with ABC News host George Stephanopoulos, which should have been a simple, friendly affair. After all, Stephanopoulos advised Democratic candidates for years and served in the Clinton administration for four years.

However, Biden appeared confused at times and belligerent at others. He also seemed to either lack a command of the facts or had less than no interest in conveying the truth.

For instance, he denied that his top military advisors told him they needed to leave a residual force in Afghanistan. Yet, it’s common knowledge Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Mark Milley urged him to leave 2,500 troops there to help maintain stability while attempting to strike a deal between warring factions. The Wall Street Journal reported as much on August 17.

Biden also accidentally implicated himself in the decision to proceed with the withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan by admitting he would have done so regardless of whether or not former President Donald Trump had already negotiated an agreement with the Taliban.

Perhaps it was the right decision to leave Afghanistan and get out while the gettin’ was good. However, there’s no way the American people can decide for themselves whether or not it was a good idea if they can’t get a straight answer from their Commander in Chief. Maybe it’s time someone reminds Biden who signs his paychecks.
