(RightWing.org) – Last week, Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer warned the Biden administration against packing the court with liberals. Now the White House has made Breyer a generous offer – except, in reality, it’s more likely a threat.
On April 6, Justice Breyer said that increasing the number of justices to let Biden stuff our highest court with liberals would undermine public trust in the judiciary. On Monday, White House press secretary Jen Psaki told reporters Biden will let Justice Breyer decide when he wants to retire from the court. That sounds like a nice gesture – but it was always Breyer’s decision to make.

Biden was likely firing a shot across the court’s bows, threatening to impose term limits on justices. On April 9, he announced a commission to look at the Supreme Court to examine options for “reforming” it. One of those options is to end the tradition of justices serving for life. Justice Breyer doesn’t need Biden’s permission to choose when – or if – he’ll step down, but that might be about to change. On Monday, Psaki hinted that the Democrats plan to change the law to get rid of justices they don’t like.
