Joe Biden Kneels for Basketball Photo Op

( – President Biden has sparked a new controversy after making what many interpret to be a show of support for the violent Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement. Remarkably, the gesture is receiving criticism from both the Right and the Left.

On August 23, Biden welcomed members of the women’s basketball championship team, the Seattle Storm, to the White House. During the traditional photo op, the president went down on one knee in front of the players, a gesture widely seen as “taking a knee” supporting BLM. Oddly, Biden was the only one to kneel, provoking embarrassed laughter from the team members.

The Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) is one of the most politically radical sports associations in the US; teams have adopted warm-up shirts carrying far-left political messages. Players routinely kneel during the national anthem. However, if Biden’s awkward gesture was an attempt to gain influence with the far-Left, it could have backfired.

Conservative media outlets criticized him for playing gesture politics while US troops struggle to evacuate thousands of people from Afghanistan. Simultaneously, Black Voters Matter activist Latasha Brown dismissed “symbolic progress” and said she couldn’t see any real action from Biden.

Meanwhile, Biden almost let slip that Kamala Harris will soon be president. During his meeting with the team, he said, “we have a female Vice President of the United States of America, who’s gonna be… we’re gonna have some [female] presidents pretty soon.” And that’s fine – but can we have one who’s actually elected, please?
