(RightWing.org) – On Saturday, July 13, former President Donald Trump came within inches of losing his life when a bullet allegedly from the rifle of Thomas Matthew Crooks ripped through the top part of his right ear. Two days later he was at the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he was officially nominated as the party’s choice to run in the 2024 presidential election and he picked Senator JD Vance (R-OH) as his running mate.
So Who Is This Buckeye?
Vance was born and raised in Middletown, Ohio, a city of just more than 50,000 situated along I-75 roughly halfway between Cincinnati and Dayton, a prototypical Midwest blue-collar rust belt town. His parents hailed from Jackson, Kentucky, and, like many others from Appalachian states like Pennsylvania and West Virginia, moved to the Buckeye State seeking employment in the once thriving manufacturing sector.
In his autobiography titled “Hillbilly Elegy: A Memoir of a Family and Culture in Crisis” and in his RNC speech accepting Trump’s invitation as the vice president candidate, Vance told his back story of a hardscrabble life spending his summers with his grandmother. As he continued speaking, it became clear that at least one reason why he was chosen to fill this spot on the ticket is because he can relate to middle America and the struggle faced by the working class all across the country.
Vance’s message resonates with millions as he recounts growing up in Middletown, which he described as “a place that had been cast aside and forgotten by America’s ruling class in Washington.” He described the effects that President Joe Biden has had as a career politician who first got to the United States Senate 11 years before he was even born in 1984.
The Republican VP candidate summed it up in four words, “Joe Biden screwed up,” and described how it wasn’t the man who paid the price for his mistakes, but rather the brunt of the burden was carried by the working men and women from his hometown and places like it. He pointed to the chummy relationship that the current POTUS has had with the People’s Republic of China over the decades and the trade deals he was a part of that made it cheaper for manufacturers to have their products made in the Communist country and shipped back here — which caused untold numbers of American workers to lose their paychecks.
However, toys and knockoff fashion accessories aren’t the only things that China has flooded America with — they are also sending literal tons of the addictive and dangerous drug fentanyl pouring into our country, but not through the legitimate ports up and down the West Coast.
No, as Vance told the audience and the millions of viewers on television, addiction and death are coming across the border from Mexico with the cartels who manufacture the final product and ship it into the United States alongside the illegal aliens who are walking across the red carpet laid out for them by the Democrats.
Vance is an alumnus of The Ohio State University, and took the stage to chants of O-H-I-O, and in a tongue-in-cheek type response reminded folks that the party needed to win his home state’s archrival of Michigan as well.
On a serious note, he vowed to bring jobs back to America, fight back against the Liberal’s “Green New Scam,” and “in short, make America great again.”
