(RightWing.org) – The IRS started sending out direct economic relief payments to Americans shortly after President Biden signed the lastest COVID-19 package into law on March 11.
Yahoo Money reported on May 5 that the IRS sent out nearly 1.1 million checks to individuals. That brings the total number of checks sent out during this third round of relief packages to about 164 million.

The current distribution will be the eighth batch sent out as a result of the latest relief package. To summarize:
- The IRS says they sent out this round of payments by May 7;
- The IRS deposited about 600,000 of them directly into peoples’ banking institutions;
- The full payment is $1,400 per eligible person and an additional $1,400 per dependent. People making up to $75,000 will get the full payment, and individuals earning up to $80,000 will receive a reduced payment. Those figures double for people filing a joint return.
