(RightWing.org) – Over the last 18 months, President Joe Biden has faced a crisis of faith among voters. His approval ratings in August 2021 began to decline during the Afghanistan withdrawal and, at times, have hovered around 40%, plus or minus, ever since. Now, a new controversy could set the stage for actual criminal or political consequences.
On Thursday, January 12, the White House Counsel’s Office searched Biden’s two Delaware homes after his personal attorneys turned over classified documents discovered at the Penn Biden Center in Washington DC, just days earlier. The initial batch created concern for some because the think tank is thought by some to be a dark money source where US adversaries such as China have donated millions of dollars in exchange for access to future high-ranking US officials. The materials are dated from his time as vice president, and new records found at his home were unsecured — and it’s possible Hunter Biden had access to them.
Hunter Biden Linked to Classified Records
Officials found the classified materials in one of the home garages where the senior Biden stored his Corvette. Ironically, Hunter Biden lived at the residence for several years, according to information on his famed laptop. Government documents retrieved from the computer showed that in 2018 and 2019, he lived at Joe Biden’s Wilmington, Delaware, house.
While it’s uncertain when the classified materials were moved to the garage, it is clear Hunter lived at the residence. Records from the infamous laptop revealed that in 2018, Hunter Biden updated his driver’s license listing with the house as his primary residence. In addition, The POTUS’ son instructed his financial advisor to update his home address to the Wilmington residence. In January 2019, he also updated the address on his PayPal account and purchased numerous items shipped there.
In addition, Hunter Biden appeared to have easy access to the garage where classified records from the Obama-Biden administration were improperly stored. In 2016, then-Vice President Biden said his son rebuilt the engine on his 1967 Corvette Stingray in the garage with his now-deceased brother, Beau Biden.
President Doubles Down as His Political Future Is in Peril
On Thursday, Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy and the president sparred over the revelations. Doocy asked, “Classified documents next to your Corvette? What were you thinking?” Biden responded he would speak on the matter soon and noted his Corvette was in the locked garage, not sitting on the street.
Biden’s statement elicited Doocy to ask him to confirm if they were indeed in the garage. The president said, “yes, as well as my Corvette.”
The White House defended the commander-in-chief while acknowledging a federal investigation is underway. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said her boss was surprised the records were in his garage.
The news comes at a time when some Democrats are apprehensive about the 80-year-old running for a second term. Some believe the revelations have made him even more vulnerable in the 2024 presidential election. They say it would be better for the country if he didn’t run for re-election.
