(RightWing.org) – President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, has avoided prosecution for his alleged crimes — so far. However, his longtime business partner, Devon Archer, can’t say the same. He recently resorted to using a Chinese banking associate to plead for leniency during the sentencing phase of his trial.
A Manhattan jury convicted Archer of securities fraud and conspiracy to commit securities fraud way back in June 2018. Yet, for some reason, US District Court Judge Ronnie Abrams allowed Archer to take 41 trips abroad while facing years behind bars, more than half of them after his conviction, according to a court record.
On February 15, Archer’s lawyers filed a sentencing memorandum in hopes of convincing Abrams to spare their client prison time. Archer’s lawyers devoted a portion of the memo to his career, including statements from Jonathan Li, the CEO of BHR Partners, a private investment fund partially owned by the Chinese-controlled Bank of China Ltd.

Li said he found Archer “honest, open, and fair.” He also characterized Archer as “too accomodating and… quick to trust at times” — which might explain the now-convicted felon’s association with Hunter Biden.
The memorandum also took a thinly-veiled shot at the Bidens. It claimed Archer’s family already suffered enough due to the “vitriolic media coverage” surrounding his conviction because of his association with prominent people involved in “presidential politics.”
What do you think? Should Archer receive a lighter sentence based on the word of a Chinese banker or because he received negative media coverage for breaking the law?
