Harris in Hot Water After Defending Biden's Election Opinions

(RightWing.org) – President Biden made some astonishing – and potentially threatening – claims about this year’s midterm elections during his press conference on Wednesday, dropping his administration into yet another hole. Now the vice president has jumped in and started digging.

On January 19, Biden, discussing November’s elections at a White House news conference, said, “I’m not going to say it’s going to be legit.” He linked the prospect of the November elections being illegitimate to whether or not his administration could pass its controversial election reform agenda. Predictably, this caused alarm and outrage.

The next day, NBC’s Savannah Guthrie questioned Vice President Kamala Harris about Biden’s remarks. Harris tried to ignore the question several times, giving the impression she didn’t have a good answer for it – which turned out to be the case after Guthrie finally pinned her down. Harris stuck to generalizations, such as “the president has been consistent on this issue.” It didn’t go down well. Social media rapidly filled up with protests at Harris’s evasiveness and refusal to give a real answer.

Meanwhile, the scandal seems to be widening rifts in the Democratic Party. Democratic West Virginian Senator Joe Manchin’s comment on Biden’s statement was, “We might have a little difference of opinion on that one.” Manchin and Senator Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) then voted against a Democrat attempt to remove the Senate filibuster, sending it down to defeat. Republican senators promptly used the filibuster to block Biden’s election bills. The question now is whether Biden and Harris will stick to their position, poisoning the 2022 midterms before voters even cast the first ballot.
