(RightWing.org) – Iowa’s governor has struck a blow to authoritarian vaccine mandates, signing a law aiming to minimize the harm they do – and protect workers who lose their jobs over the issue.
On October 28, both chambers of the Iowa Legislature approved House File 902, and the next day, Governor Kim Reynolds (R) signed it, bringing it into immediate effect. The new law says any business imposing a COVID-19 vaccine mandate must waive it for any employee that requests a religious or medical exemption. If a business fires any employees for declining the vaccine, it must ensure they’re eligible for unemployment benefits. This legislation means mandates won’t force anybody to take the vaccine because they fear a lack of income.
Thank you Governor Reynolds for using common sense.#NoMandates

Announcing the bill’s passage, Governor Reynolds said, “I am proud to sign this bipartisan piece of legislation today,” praising it as a significant improvement in Iowans’ freedom and individual autonomy. She stressed she believes the vaccine is the best way to protect against COVID but warned: “No one should be forced to choose between making a living or standing up for their personal beliefs.” She added Iowa would continue to resist the federal government when it exceeds its authority, and there would be more actions against Biden’s controversial vaccine mandate if needed.
