Governor Handed Joe Biden an Explosively Critical Letter

( – Since President Joe Biden’s inauguration in January 2021, Texas has experienced record-high illegal immigration. The impact has been broad and deep. According to US Customs and Border Patrol (CBP), the numbers are staggering. In March 2021, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton warned Biden’s policies would cost Texas taxpayers over $850 million for hospital care, housing, and more.

On Sunday, January 8, the president finally visited the southern border for the first time, along with Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. When Air Force One landed in El Paso, Texas, Gov. Greg Abbott (R), Reps. Henry Cuellar (D-TX), Veronica Escobar (D-TX), and Vicente Gonzalez (D-TX) greeted Biden on the tarmac. Absent were any Republican congressmen or Vice President Kamala Harris. During their interaction, Gov. Abbott personally handed the president a letter that offered an explosive and critical critique.

Governor Hands Biden Explosive Critical Letter

In the personal letter, Abbott criticized the president’s job performance regarding unlawful immigrants. He called on him to do his job and enforce federal immigration laws. The governor stated the chaos that is the ongoing crisis at the southern border is caused by his failure to implement the laws passed by Congress. He charged that open border policies “emboldened cartels” profiting from human and drug trafficking.

The governor added in the personal letter that Texans were paying the price for his failures. Sometimes with their lives. Abbott said Biden would know it if he listened to local leaders within his own political party. To solve the problem, Abbott recommended five solutions:

  1. Comply with federal law by detaining illegal immigrants instead of paroling them.
  2. Enforce the Remain-in-Mexico policy and preserve Title 42 per court orders.
  3. Aggressively prosecute those who enter the country between ports and remove them from the country per federal law.
  4. Immediately finish constructing the border wall in Texas using the billions of dollars already authorized by Congress.
  5. Designate Mexican drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations.

Illegal Immigration Growing Into Worse Problem

According to CBP statistics, illegal immigration continues to explode. In fiscal year 2021, CBP agents encountered over 1.6 million unlawful migrants. In fiscal year 2022, it jumped to over 2.2 million. Since fiscal year 2023 began on October 1, 2022, CBP says agents have already encountered 414,705.

While the problem continues to worsen, some wonder what Vice President Harris is doing about the situation. In March 2021, Biden tapped her to look into the “root causes” of illegal immigration along the southern border, yet the only time she visited the region was in June 2021. She didn’t see the largest processing station in the country for unaccompanied children or the Rio Grande Valley, which was the epicenter of the crisis.

Likewise, the commander-in-chief didn’t visit areas hard hit by the out-of-control problem. In his letter, Abbott criticized Biden for staging a photo-op in El Paso and said he was shielded from the chaos “Texans experience on a daily basis.”

Reportedly, Biden did not read Abbott’s letter.
