(RightWing.org) – Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) has built herself quite a reputation for her part in the so-called “Squad,” led by Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY). Even in that hard-left group, she stands out for her often-extreme views. Now, though, her famous mouth might have dropped her in over her head.
Omar has been a vocal supporter of the controversial campaign to defund police departments across the country – and, while this idea is popular on the far left (and with criminals, of course) it’s electoral kryptonite for ordinary, law-abiding Americans. Omar says her plans won’t stop investigations into crimes, but is anyone convinced?
"You can't really reform a department that is rotten to the root. What you can do is rebuild," Rep. Ilhan Omar explains her calls to defund the police departments. "No one is saying crimes will not be investigated." #CNNSOTU pic.twitter.com/t3q10iJv3C

Now Lacy Johnson, the Republican-backed candidate who’ll be contesting Omar’s seat on June 23, thinks he can leverage Omar’s anti-cop rhetoric to secure a win despite her large majority. “I think it’s just a bad idea all the way around,” Johnson told Fox News, and 80% of the American public agrees with him.
