(RightWing.org) – Since President Joe Biden took office in January, he and Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis have been going back in forth in a battle of wills on everything from COVID mandates to illegal immigration. On the latter, there isn’t much DeSantis can do to curb the tide of illegal immigration. The courts routinely confirm that it’s an area off-limits to the states and is the federal government’s responsibility.
Unfortunately, the Biden administration is turning a blind eye to the issue. At least one Florida resident is dead at the hands of an illegal immigrant, and the state is bearing the cost of illegal immigration that it did not foresee including budgets for education, housing, Medicaid, and other expenses. Gov. DeSantis may not be able to stop it, but he says he has one solution to fight back. He’ll round them up and send them to Delaware: Biden’s home state.
DeSantis Vows to Fight Back
In the last year, the crisis grew to the worst it’s been in US history. In February, migrants wore T-shirts thanking Biden for opening the border and all too gleefully gave him credit for their newfound joy at America’s expense.
The federal government’s fiscal year runs from October 1 to September 31. To illustrate how bad the problem has become, in FY 2020, the border patrol encountered 646,822 illegal immigrants. In 2021, it shot up to nearly 2 million. In the late summer, under the cover of night, the Biden administration flew 70 planes into Jacksonville, Florida, and released illegal immigrants into the community.
On Wednesday, November 10, the Florida governor told reporters he believes he has a solution to the state’s problem as his administration considers all its legal options. DeSantis suggested the state should purchase bus tickets and send the illegal immigrants elsewhere.
DeSantis Could Send Illegal Immigrants to Sanctuary Cities — Or Delaware
Tongue-in-cheek, the governor said if the administration sends the illegal immigrants to Florida, perhaps the state would send them to Delaware. It’s the second smallest state in the nation, and also the home of President Biden.
Could you imagine? What’s good for the goose is good for the gander. If there are too many illegals, perhaps the state could buy bus tickets and send them to big sanctuary cities like Philadelphia or New York City.
In case you think DeSantis isn’t serious, the governor’s press secretary, Christina Pushaw, says he’s not joking. She said the governor wants to look into the idea. If the federal government can do it, what’s to stop a state from doing the same thing?
As the battle between conservative states and the federal government heats up over illegal immigration, look for the states to find inexpensive solutions to get around their dilemma.
Stay tuned. This could become an interesting legal battle.
