FBI Director To Be Called In For Questioning By Lawmakers

(RightWing.org) – House Republicans started making good on their pre-election vow to hold the deep state accountable for its actions shortly after they assumed control of the chamber on January 3. A week later, GOP lawmakers established the Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government (SSWFG) to investigate allegations of corruption involving topics ranging from Hunter Biden’s overseas deals in Ukraine and China to the launch of the Trump/Russia witch hunt. The panel operates as part of the House Judiciary Committee, and both are headed by Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH).

Both committees started holding hearings and collecting documents, which quickly confirmed their suspicions that liberal and progressive-led rogue elements had permeated the Department of Justice, FBI, IRS, and other executive branch agencies.

House Judiciary Committee To Grill FBI Director

The House Judiciary Committee recently scheduled a hearing to “examine the politicization” of the FBI, the “nation’s preeminent law enforcement agency.” FBI Director Chris Wray is the only witness, and the hearing is set to take place at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 12.

This will be the first time Wray has testified publicly before the committee since the House Oversight Committee reviewed documents detailing accusations that President Joe Biden and his son received millions of dollars from a Russian oligarch.

Likewise, it’s the first hearing since the House Ways and Means Committee, led by Rep. Jason Smith (R-MO), released transcripts from the testimony of two IRS whistleblowers directly involved in tax evasion investigations involving Hunter Biden. They testified that the Justice Department obstructed their efforts to seek an indictment against the president’s son.

House Republicans Get to Work Investigating the Federal Government’s Weaponization

The House Judiciary Committee and its companion SSWFG have taken testimony and sought documentary evidence from Big Tech companies, whistleblowers, Biden administration officials, and more.

An abbreviated chronology of some of the work shows Republicans’ determination to find answers to lingering questions involving actions taken by the Biden administration and federal agencies.

  • February 9: Two panels from the SSWFG hold hearings to discuss the FBI and Justice Department’s longstanding “attacks on American civil liberties.”
  • March 30: The SSWFG held a hearing to discuss the Biden administration’s efforts to violate First Amendment protections by “directing” Big Tech companies to “censor and suppress American’s free speech.”
  • April 28: Jordan subpoenas three federal agencies over their efforts to coordinate Biden administration efforts to throttle opposing views.
  • May 25: Jordan and Administrative State, Regulatory Reform, and Antitrust Subcommittee Chairman Thomas Massey (R-KY) launch an investigation into allegations that Bank of America executives shared customers’ private information with the FBI.
  • June 1: Jordan sent a letter to AG Garland demanding details regarding the extent of the FBI’s involvement in Special Counsel Jack Smith’s investigations into alleged efforts to change the outcome of the 2020 presidential election and reported mishandling of documents by former President Donald Trump.

As a fitting footnote, Judiciary Committee member Rep. Ben Cline (R-VA) recently posted a statement noting the upcoming hearing with Director Wray. Noting that the FBI had “abused its power to come after Americans,” he vowed the committee would end the federal government’s weaponization.
